Based on all the reviews I had seen of this phone, I am really under whelmed by the actual product. I have used a Motorola Q9h and really wanted something that could connect to WiFi. While the E71 does that, it does not offer much more. It has a few nice features, but there are many things that make you wonder what Nokia was thinking.
Pro:
Build quality is great
Easy set up, auto wizards did everything
Browser is great
Call quality and signal is good (better than some LG phones but no better than my Q9h)
Menu system is very good (much better than Windows mobile which hides so much).
Lots of option for pic taking
PC Suite is a nice free app for syncing -integrates well with Outlool
GPS with Google maps is very quick to pick up signal
Nice to have a phone w/o all the garbage they put on the ones you get from the network operators.
Syncs Outlook notes
Cons:
Sending and deleting emails should be easier, they make it a 2 step process. I do a lot of email and this is a major disappointment.
When using IMAP for mail, no way to move emails to other folders.
Categories for contacts does not carry over from Outlook
No ability to filter contacts, you must use groups. Unable to set a default group
Does not play quicktime or windows media video files
Pic quality is just ok, color are really off unless the light is great
Signal strength meter is almost impossible to read
Limited ability to customize home page, no ability to add shortcuts to non original apps (lots of plug ins for Windows mobile allowed much more flexibility)
Enabling call forwarding is a very involved process
Alarms are not well done. You can not save an alarm turned off.
All in all I like the phone but am not sure there is much of an improvement over the Motorola Q9h. Generally better menu system, but email is a weak point on the E71. If you are a light email user and are looking for a good looking phone, the E71 is a good choice. If you are a heavy email user, go with either a Blackberry or Windows Mobile phone such as the Motorola q9h

im 19 yr old male from texas.
Got this phone for Christmas for 400$.

If you are thinking about this phone but cant decide, over others, consider this. i previously owned the original iphone. great phone, nonetheless, but decided to sell it and go for a nokia. Most people dont realize it, but this nokia really can do just about anything (and more) than that iphone your thinking about. (save the apps on the iphone) But i truly am more happy now with my Nokia. its such a solid, substantial piece of technology, in every way i can think of, nokia made this thing of quality materials. not fragile at all.

So what about the monthly internet (data plan) ?
Well, with the iphone get ready to pay 30$ a month for data alone! that is a rough estimate of 720$ over a span of a two year contract with at&t.

Why not get this Nokia, sign up for at&t's "smartphone data plan" (also known as MEdia net thing) i pay literally 15$ a month flat rate for unlimited data. it takes no genius to realize thats about 360$ savings over 24 months. (that number covers the actual cost of the phone it self!)

Do not be swayed away either by the e71's business appeal. I am a college kid and very into electronics, and i can honestly say this phone has everything a person would need (business/just for fun/practical uses) and seriously has technology a year ahead of its time. in otherwords, i could see myself using this phone in two years and still be more than pleased with it.

Buy also a micro SD card. i bought an 8gb card on here for around 20$ these plug into the phone and allow you to save your media on the phone. i.e. music, videos, pictures ect. this gives me a wonderful media device thats easily comparable to any ipod.

one setback on the phone is the 2.5mm headphone jack. Standard is 3.5mm so your favorite headphones wont plug into the phone without an adaptor. i bought one on dealextreme.com for literally 1.26$ (no tax, and no shipping) the adaptor is a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adaptor, and works wonderful.

Nokia did things right with this device.

the iphone strays away from the fundamentals of what a cell phone is really about: making/ recieving calls. Nokia sticks to simplicity and makes using the phone for calls/texts VERY straightforward and easy.

you wont be dissapointed, and at this price its really a deal that can save you a good chunk of change in the future.

non-Amazon sellers are shipping the OEM version SPN5400a.
Motorola branded with charging specs of 4.75-5.25V and 0 - 950mA

Droid needs 850 mA to charge, so this should work.

After losing my Blackberry Pearl and with the screen of my back up Razr gone, I started shopping, trying to decide whether to wait until my contract with T-Mobile was up and get an iPhone or continue buying unlocked phones and keeping my great plan. Reading all the reviews on Amazon and going to other sites, I decided on the Nokia e63-2 in true blue. I had read about how syncing with Mac was not the easiest project. True. I had to go through the isync set up a few times before my phone was finally recognized. The next step is the media transfer, which you can download from Apple, if you have OS X. 5 or higher, but not OS X .4. If you have an older version of OS x, do not try to download the media transfer from Apple, it will not load. When I went to Nokia's sight, the new pages only have the updates for OS X.5. I did a google search with my current Mac operating system and found the Nokia, free download (There are sites charging $39 for syncing program). I followed the instructions from Nokia and by using my microUSB cord (I also loaded files with the Bluetooth feature, for a little test), I easily transfer music from my iTunes library and created my own, free ringtones, and photos to create my own wall paper. Now I am also synced for my calenders, notes, appointments, contacts, etc.

So after spending a few hours (mostly my fault) with the setup, I was ready to go. I love the keyboard, no trouble texting nor typing. There is a light sensor on the camera that will automatically turn on the keyboard backlight, in a dark room, but I found that it did not light the whole keyboard. Until I go through the instructions, thoroughly, I will blame myself for this.

Calls sounded crisp and clean. The headphones that come with the phone are not bad, so I will save my Shures for my iPod. I like the weight of the phone and the way it feels in my hand. The keyboard lock feature took a little getting use to, but it comes in handy when putting the phone in a bag or pocket. With all the playing around I have done, I still have not drained half of the battery power. I have dropped the phone once, and with my Razr, I had to take the phone apart and adjust the battery, but the Nokia was ready to go, no problem.

I took advantage of Amazon's low price and a $50 rebate from Nokia, making the phone cost $169 instead of being over $227.

With all the electronics I buy, there is some letdown and I often regret not getting the most expensive choice, but, I am happy I saved a lot of money by not buying the e71x. I got a great deal and have no regrets included the 2 mp camera, which I would only use in an emergency and no GPS.

I purchased the LinkStick to give my new Samsung UN55B8000 LED TV wireless capabilities. It was very simple to set up and works flawlessly.

My only complaint is that the LinkStick adapter protrudes more than the actual TV. If you wall mount the TV (like I did) with the ultra slim wall mount, it causes the the TV to push out a 1/4" from the wall on the left side. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it.

Wow, this wireless adapter could not be any easier to set up! Using on my Samsung BDP-1600 Blu-Ray, I just plugged it in, went to the DVD menu, setup, selected my wireless network which brought up a keyboard to enter my network password. Instantly and automatically, it connected to the network and gives you a code, which you enter on Netflix (just follow the on-screen TV instructions). INSTANT MOVIES! Very good quality. You can get HD quality movies with a type "N" router, but I only have a type "G", but still, the quality is great! If you unplug the adapter and replug it in, it automatically reconnects to your router and Netflix so you don't have to go through setup again.

I highly recommend it for streaming your Netflix movies to your TV (my TV is a Samsung LN52A630)

The battery looks new but the borders are no rounded like the original that comes with my BlackBerry 8520. It last more than the 8 moths used one.

The only thing that dislikes me is take time to restart my BB device every time that I change the battery, but It's a RIM fact.

I recently cracked the screen of my Crackberry and when that happens, the phone is totally gone... so I had to shop for something new. I considered the iPhone, but didn't really want to pay for the plan that must be contracted with it since I have an old $19.99 t-mobile plan that I'm not sure I want to give up, even though t-mobile coverage sucks. I also considered another BlackBerry, but every time I get a new phone I think about how much I loved my first few Nokia phones because they just make sense, they are simple to use and are just more logical than most of the other phones out there. So... I found this E63 and read up on it. It sounded good, but I was still a little worried that I'd be sorry if I got it. I went to Best Buy to see if I could find one in person and it looked very nice, so I ordered it on Amazon (for about $100 less than other retailers! yay!)

I can't even express how happy I am with this phone. It is sooooooooo much better than the BlackBerry! It has just about every function you could wish for and is so easy to use and navigate.

I was able to sync it easily with my Mac using Bluetooth - I was going to get a new cable to sync it that way, but found that it was very easy to do wirelessly. I did have to look up how to get it to sync with Mac Entourage (Outlook) because it is only set up to sync with iCal, but it was easy to find the setup instructions and it worked without a glitch. I love that it has FM radio because I can listen to music wherever I am, I can also surf the web without a data plan, which is super fantabulous!!!

If you are looking for a new phone that can help you manage your life, I highly recommend the Nokia E63 - especially in Ruby Red because it's just beautiful!

Oh, and I think the keypad is easier to use than the BB, the only strange thing is that the zero is not at the bottom of the number area like it usually would be, it is on the right side - but I haven't had trouble getting used to it at all (I thought I would).

Oh, and one more thing... my crappy t-mobile coverage is MUCH improved... I don't know how, but I am getting higher signals everywhere and am able to use my phone in areas where I couldn't before - and not on other networks either (I checked by setting it to use only t-mobile for a while rather than picking up the stronger networks).

I recently cracked the screen of my Crackberry and when that happens, the phone is totally gone… so I had to shop for something new. I considered the iPhone, but didn’t really want to pay for the plan that must be contracted with it since I have an old $19.99 t-mobile plan that I’m not sure I want to give up, even though t-mobile coverage sucks. I also considered another BlackBerry, but every time I get a new phone I think about how much I loved my first few Nokia phones because they just make sense, they are simple to use and are just more logical than most of the other phones out there. So… I found this E63 and read up on it. It sounded good, but I was still a little worried that I’d be sorry if I got it. I went to Best Buy to see if I could find one in person and it looked very nice, so I ordered it on Amazon (for about $100 less than other retailers! yay!)

I bought this phone for my mother and girlfriend and i can say for sure that is a great device, easy to use, great display, great keyboard and the track pad what can i say, just smooth, i don't know about the durability of the track pad but it seems that is going to last longer that the track ball. i would recommend this phone for starters in this world of smart-phones, it very easy to use and to understand the phone.

For the money, you might expect a bit more than a weighted base (with magnet!) and a power adapter. I know I did. You can use software to go into the same mode as the dock for free, so YMMV.

I appreciate the design. It's heavy enough to not get knocked around too easily on my desk, and my wife keeps hers in the kitchen. It would work equally well as an alarm clock/night stand device. We got these with our 2 droids since it was a nice refined way to charge them and still get plenty of functionality (weather/time/music) at a visible angle.

Pros:
1. Well weighted with rubberized bottom keeps it from bouncing around easily
2. Designed nicely - Looks sharp. The Droid's audio is surprising clear in speaker mode for playing music (especially for such a small speaker), but a Bluetooth or corded headset (or speaker setup) would work here.
3. Nice angle for keeping an eye on the clock. I'm hoping Google improves the interface... the weather section is a bit small and doesn't give much info. A real-time radar with more info would be best and perhaps a smaller alarm clock with more configuration/personalization options for color, stock ticker, etc. would be great. But this doesn't affect my review of the dock.
4. Fits perfectly and makes it easy to remember where you left your phone. :-)

Cons:
1. I thought that the cable for USB/DC Converter was a bit short. It's the same as the one that came with the Droid. Nothing that can't be amended, but for $30 they couldn't throw in another meter?
2. It boils down to being a weighted/angled slot with charger/usb cable for $30. It probably amounts to $2 in materials if that. It would be expensive at $15.
3. It really doesn't deliver much. You can get everything but the pre-positioned angle without the doc, and the doc software needs improvement (not a slam on the dock itself, just pointing it out). Unless you're really using it as an alarm clock, It's difficult to see the point now that I have it. If you're watching movies on it as a sort of TV replacement, then maybe... yeah.
4. No cases allowed (it won't fit with them on).

In the end, it is well built and designed nicely. I think it should offer more for the money (maybe built in speakers?) but it is what it is, an overpriced accessory, and for what it's worth, usually overpriced accessories are built like junk, so this gets a 4.
